Understanding of the past and how it is represented in politics, the media, and in public life are shifting in both Germany and the United States. Recent comments (or lack thereof) about the legacy of slavery by US politicians and what appears to be a new historians’ debate in Germany regarding Holocaust history are dividing both intellectuals and average citizens. We hope to bring together alumni experts and partners to discuss the questions at the heart of these contentious debates.
