American Friends of AvH looks forward to providing insights into the most salient issues in transatlantic research in our annual newsletter. Inspired by the study of geology, our annual print newsletter, Strata, evokes Alexander von Humboldt’s life-long career in the natural sciences and conveys the rich and varied experiences of Humboldtians abroad. The layers—separate but part of a whole—signify the ever-increasing knowledge that Humboldtians attain through their careers and the cohesiveness of the 30,000 Humboldtians worldwide through their common experience with Germany.
